Outside the Rink
Despite the sizeable chunk of time that I dedicate to skating, I do have other things happening in my life.
Every summer since I was 5 years old, I have gone to a backpacking girl scout camp for ten days. I backpack, I sleep under the stars, I get really dirty, and I love it. As for school, I took as many AP, Honors, and Advanced classes as I could, and have been a straight A student my whole life. I play flute and piccolo in symphonic band, and I travel to one competition a year. this year I graduated as class Valedictorian of my high school. I have a cat named Derby, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog named Ella, a ragdoll kitten named Charlotte, and a corn snake named Corny! I have three older brothers -- Matt, Chris, and Alex -- but I don't get to see them very often because Alex is in college and Matt and Chris graduated from college already (Matt is all grown up and acts like a real adult now, with a real job and everything...it's so weird. And Chris is headed to Connecticut in a week!) . Matt and Alex were also national roller figure skating champions, and Chris ran at the national track and field championships before his senior year in high school, so we all share an intense competitive spirit! I plan to study biomedical engineering in college, but first I have a lot more skating to do! Right now my newest interest is scaring my mom (coach) by doing freestyle and skating JWC dances...seriously. I got my first pair of non-figure skates right after worlds (THANK YOU SUZIE ROBERTSON CHANGUS!) and I'm having so much fun skating dance and freestyle with my Roseville Skate Club teammates. |
That thing where the school's Valedictorian holds her diploma upside down...
